Cheatbook Privacy Statement

Privacy Policy

This privacy statement was last updated on 2026-03-13 and applies to citizens and legal permanent residents of the European Economic Area and other visitors to this website.

This page explains what data Cheatbook.de collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep this simple: we do not sell your data, we do not require registration, and we do not track you beyond what is necessary to run the site and show ads.

Data Controller

The data controller responsible for this website is:
Robert-Michael Fankhauser
Hamburg, Germany

For full legal information, see our Imprint (Impressum).

1. What data we collect, why, and on what legal basis

Contact and submission forms (Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — contract performance / pre-contractual measures)
When you use the Contact form or the Submit Cheats form, we collect your name (or nickname), email address, and the content of your message. This data is used solely to respond to your inquiry or to process your cheat submission for inclusion in a future CheatBook Issue. We do not store form submissions in a database — they are received by email and handled manually. Form data is deleted once the inquiry has been resolved.

Star ratings (Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in site quality improvement)
When you rate a page, your vote is stored server-side linked to your IP address (to prevent duplicate votes). IP addresses used for rating are retained for a maximum of 90 days and then deleted. Your IP address is not shared with third parties and is not used for any other purpose. The browser remembers your vote for the current session via sessionStorage, which is cleared automatically when you close the tab.

Server logs (Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in security and technical operation)
Like any web server, our server automatically logs basic access data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. These logs are used for security monitoring and diagnosing technical problems. They are retained for a maximum of 30 days and then deleted.

2. Cookies and third-party services

Google AdSense (Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent via cookie banner)
This website displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at google.com/settings/ads. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

International data transfers: Google LLC is based in the United States. Data processed through Google AdSense may be transferred to servers in the US. Google participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which provides adequate safeguards for such transfers under EU law.

No other tracking cookies
Cheatbook.de itself does not set any tracking or analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics service. The only browser storage we use is sessionStorage for the star rating widget, which does not track you across sessions or sites.

3. Third-party links

This website contains links to external sites (game blogs, download mirrors, trainer sources). This privacy policy applies only to cheatbook.de. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of linked third-party websites and recommend you read their privacy statements before providing any personal data.

4. Children and minors

This website is not specifically directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal data (for example through a contact form), please contact us so we can delete the data promptly.

5. Data security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect any personal data processed through this site. The website is served exclusively over HTTPS. Form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Access to server data is restricted to the site operator.

6. Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties, except where required by law or court order. In the event of a legal investigation or public safety matter, we may be required to disclose data to the relevant authorities to the extent permitted by law.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data where there is no legitimate reason for us to continue holding it.
  • Right to restrict processing — you can request that we limit the processing of your data under certain conditions.
  • Right to object — you can object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to data portability — you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent (e.g. advertising cookies), you can withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please use our contact form. Please clearly identify yourself so we can locate your data accurately.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy statement from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We recommend checking back occasionally if you use our contact or submission forms regularly.
